How long have you been supporting Go-Go music?: I have been a supporter of GoGo ever since I first heard it. Fell in love.
What do you think makes GoGo music unique?: GoGo music is unique because it is the sound of D.C. and the DMV area. You can't help but move when those drums and congos start going.
What was your first experience with GoGo music?: My first experience was going to see Chuck Brown and 911. I forget which club it was at, but man what a night. The highlight was being able to meet Chuck and kick it with him for a bit before he went on stage. It was the best.
Who are your favorite bands?: My favorite bands are BYB, JYB, What Band and Northeast Groovers.
What has been your biggest GoGo concert so far?: The biggest concert I have to say is when I saw JYB and Scarface and he played WITH the band....and KILLED IT. He is my favorite Rap artist hands down so it was a win win!
What is your brand/company if any? (your business or brand): Have you heard about my amazing grandmother, Nan Hawkins? Her name is forever remembered at National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD. Ms. Nan Hawkins, born October 4, 1928 who sadly passed away on December 26, 2004 , but left a lasting legacy as one and only African American to be honored at the National Harbor for her incredible contribution. She was a true trailblazer, always putting the community first and making sure that kids in our neighborhood had fun things to do during the summer. She was a real gem!
What do you think is the most significant barrier to female movement?: I think the most significant barrier is ego. Whether you have been in GoGo for 6 months or 20 years, everyone is on the same team! Everyone needs to be supporting and lifting each other up! I would love to see a concert with EVERY BAND TOGETHER!! Now THAT would be epic!
