 (Level 1)

What band do you play for?: Mental Attraction Band 2.0
Position in GoGo: singer, rapper, assistant manager
How long have you been supporting Go-Go music?: I went to my first GoGo when I was 19 but have been listening since I was a child.
What do you think makes GoGo music unique?: The style of music and components that make it GoGo. To get the real feel of GoGo there has to be certain parts and once you hear all those necessary parts then GoGo becomes a feeling.
What was your first experience with GoGo music?: JYB was the first band I ever heard while I was getting ready for school one morning. My brother used to take his boombox in the bathroom to shower and he started playing music and that woke me up out of the trance I was in of not wanting to go to school and from that day forward that was how I started my day.
Who are your musical influences? What or who inspires you?: In GoGo; JYB is a huge influence and Lysette from BYB. Music in general; Teena Marie, Whitney Houston, Mary J Blidge and the way Beyonce entertains and demands attention through performances.
What inspires me to sing is the fact that it’s my therapy. I get in a zone when I’m on stage and it puts me on cloud nine.
What has been your favorite performance so far?: Every performance is my favorite, I have experienced a different satisfaction from each one and the interaction between me and the supporters. No matter how many people are there I will create an intimate feel through performances.
What is the most difficult thing about being a woman in GoGo?: Not getting the respect I deserve. It’s still a mans game so all it takes is one man to say oh she’s not good or she has an attitude problem and that sticks with you. Unfortunately there is not a big sisterhood in GoGo either so unless you’re performing on huge stages and selling out shows the people that you should “look up to” don’t fuck with you. They treat you like the bottom of the barrel. I have found my tribe in GoGo now but it definitely took me awhile.
What has been your biggest music/GoGo career highlight so far?: I would say when I got to perform with my favorite band. Buggs called me up on stage for sing with them and that was the icing on the cake for me. To hear him tell me that I'm underrated and have so much talent, gave me the confirmation that Im doing things the right way.
Do you have any advice for aspiring female artists?: I would say stay focused, keep your legs closed, give your all with every performance. Find your tribe and maintain a relationship with God because the music industry l, not just GoGo, is very trying.
What is your brand/company if any? (your business or brand): I am my brand and business. Every time I step out the house I am a showcase. I also design clothing so I am a walking billboard as well. Mental Attraction is also by business.
When you perform and the audience sings along, how does that energy make you feel?: That makes me feel amazing, and connected. It makes me go harder during the performance.
Are any of your songs based on real events or people we might know? If so, can you tell us more about them without giving away too many details about the song itself?: All of my songs are based around events in my life. It ranges from love & encouragement to parties, to fights and death.
What do you think is the most significant barrier to female movement?: The most significant barrier in my opinion would be the females. We have to come to together and stick together. We are already a force to be reckoned with alone so if we come together we can be unstoppable and unmovable as a whole instead of a bunch of individuals.
